Mayor’s Inspection of Jinhua Fingered Citron Industry: Charting a New Blueprint

On February 18, Vice Mayor Li Binfeng led a delegation comprising officials from the Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and district governments of Wucheng and Jindong to inspect Zhejiang JinHua Fingered Citron Biomedical Technology Co., Ltd. The delegation conducted an on-site investigation of Fingered Citron cultivation bases, deep-processing production lines, and experiential stores, aiming to advance the high-quality development of the Jinhua Fingered Citron industry and inject new vitality into the region’s distinctive agricultural economy. Following the inspection, a symposium on the industry’s development was held at the company.

Comprehensive Report on Jinhua Fingered Citron
General Manager Zhang Hongming of Jinfoshou Company delivered a detailed presentation to the delegation, covering the historical evolution, cultural significance, and religious connections of Fingered Citron across cultures. He emphasized the uniqueness and irreplaceable value of Jinhua Fingered Citron, advocating for its in-depth development. The report systematically outlined the current status and future plans for the entire industrial chain—from cultivation and processing to product R&D and market expansion—providing a holistic view of the industry’s progress.

Leaders from the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Wucheng District, and Jindong District also reported on their respective efforts to promote Fingered Citron industry development.

Vice Mayor Li highly commended Jinfoshou Company’s pivotal role in advancing the industry, particularly its
contributions to market expansion and deep-processing innovation. He remarked, “Jinhua is fortunate to have Fingered Citron—a treasure to be cherished. The dedication of Jinfoshou’s team is commendable and deserves gratitude. To overcome current challenges, government and enterprises must collaborate, starting with resolving raw material supply issues at the cultivation stage and addressing market bottlenecks to realize our shared vision for the industry’s future.”

Integrated Industrial Development
Vice Mayor Li issued directives to support the Fingered Citron industry with the same vigor as the renowned Jinhua Ham industry. Key measures include:

  • Expanding cultivation to 10,000 mu (≈666.7 hectares) across districts.

  • Tasking the Academy of Agricultural Sciences with germplasm resource conservation and new cultivar development.

  • Urging Jindong District to enhance online sales channels.

  • Elevating Jinfoshou Company to municipal, provincial, and national flagship enterprise status, with Wucheng District providing robust support.

  • Promoting experiential stores like Fingered Citron Blossom Experience Store and developing premium products.

  • Approving Wucheng’s Premium Fingered Citron Garden project as a cultural-tourism integration model, akin to the Panda Pig Park.

  • Exploring the establishment of a Jinhua Fingered Citron Museum.

  • Creating a supportive policy environment and amplifying publicity efforts akin to those for Jinhua Ham.
